Transforming Ideas into Reality through Innovation and Collaboration
The Chicago Engineering Design Team (EDT) is a student organization from the University of Illinois at Chicago, founded in September 2000. Our primary focus is to implement skills and knowledge acquired in the classroom into mobile robotics and engineering projects. We enroll in college-level competitions every year, which require a diverse set of engineering backgrounds including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science.
Our Objective
Our organization's objective is to provide a platform for students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical projects, fostering innovation, creativity, and teamwork. We strive to create a community that encourages collaboration, leadership, and communication among members from various engineering disciplines.
Community Service
EDT collaborates with high schools in Chicago to promote STEM-related careers and higher education. We believe that by sharing our experiences and knowledge, we can inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators. Our community service initiatives aim to make a positive impact on the local community and promote engineering education.
Our Services
The Chicago Engineering Design Team offers a range of services and projects that cater to the diverse interests and skills of our members. Our teams and projects include:
- NASA RMC - Team Lunabotics: We participate in the NASA Robotics Mining Competition, designing and building robots that can simulate lunar surface mining.
- Team Stella: We compete in the Midwestern Robotics Design Competition (MRDC), creating robots that can navigate rough terrain and perform tasks.
- Team AiR: We design and program drones, focusing on autonomy and controls built from open-source platforms.
- RoboBrawl - Team Devastating Wind: We participate in the annual combat robotics event, Robobrawl, designing and building combat robots.
