At AMES, we believe that education should be a collaborative and inclusive experience that fosters growth, creativity, and critical thinking. As a public charter school, we are dedicated to providing a stimulating and inspiring environment for bright, talented, and disciplined students.

Our Mission

Our mission is to prepare diverse students for success in college or other post-secondary education. We are committed to providing a world-class education that prepares our students for an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

U of U Partnership

In partnership with the University of Utah, AMES offers the Early College Partnership program. This program allows prepared high school students to earn both high school and college credit by taking college-level coursework. Our courses are taught by University of Utah professors at AMES Early College High School, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education.

8 Keys of Excellence

At AMES, we focus on eight key principles that guide our students' behavior and attitude. These principles include:

  • I focus on NOW and keep a positive attitude
  • I own the choices I make and the results that follow
  • I am responsible for my own learning
  • I am willing to take calculated risks
  • I am open to feedback and constructive criticism
  • I am committed to my goals and strive to achieve them
  • I value diversity and celebrate individuality
  • I am proud of my identity and the choices I make

Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

At AMES, we believe that extracurricular activities are an essential part of a well-rounded education. Our students can participate in a wide range of clubs and activities, including Cottonwood Athletics, theatre, music programs, and more.

Enrollment

As a public charter school, AMES aligns with state and federal policies that determine our operation. This includes conducting a blind lottery for all eligible 9th-grade applicants. The application is opened at the beginning of January and remains open until mid-February every year. Accepted students are notified within a few weeks of the lottery.

Tour Our School

We invite you to tour our school and experience the AMES community firsthand. Meet our students, meet our faculty, see all the amazing programs and things happening inside these walls. Contact us to schedule a tour.
