PEGroup Consulting Engineers, Inc. is a structural engineering consulting firm specializing in forensic engineering investigations. Our expertise stems from our extensive experience in all aspects of structural design, analysis, construction, and inspection of buildings and other structures. We have been performing forensic engineering investigations since the mid-1980s when our clients first called upon us to determine the cause of material failures, flooring failures, and structural collapses.

Our Experience

We have investigated numerous disasters, including the 1985 Mexico Earthquake, Hurricane Hugo in the Carolinas in 1989, Hurricane Andrew in Florida in 1992, Hurricanes Charlie, Frances, Jeanne, and Ivan in 2004, Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma in 2005, as well as many other storms and disasters. We have performed thousands of investigations involving roof failures, mold, water intrusion, vibration problems, structural collapse, fire, wind, flood, sinkholes, seawalls, steel towers, and more.

Our Key Staff

Our team of experts includes:

• President John Pepper, P.E.: With over 35 years of experience in structural and forensic engineering, John is a graduate of the University of Miami and has served as an officer in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. He was the lead engineer with Florida Task Force One before retiring from the team after returning from the World Trade Center disaster in 2001.
• Managing Principal Greg McLellan, P.E.: With a Master's degree from the University of Illinois and a BSCE from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, Greg has extensive experience in structural design and analysis and has completed over 2,500 forensic engineering investigations.
• Senior Engineer Manager Diane Riggi, P.E.: With 28 years of experience in structural design and inspection of all types of construction, Diane was the 2006 President of the South Florida Chapter of The Florida Structural Engineers Association.
• Senior Engineer Associate Marcelo Perla, P.E.: With a Master's degree from Florida International University, Marcelo has extensive experience in forensic engineering, structural finite element modeling, and analysis.
• Graduate Engineer Jake Bleier, E.I.: With a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University, Jake is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Institute of Steel Construction.
• Graduate Engineer Kevin Porto, E.I.: With a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University, Kevin is currently studying for an Engineer in Training (EI) certification and is an active member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, Florida Structural Engineers Association, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
