Our Mission
At IUOE Local 649, our mission is to provide a better standard of living for our members and offer the same opportunities to other workers who perform operating engineer-type work in our jurisdiction. OUR HISTORY
The International Union of Operating Engineers was founded on December 7, 1896, and Local 649 was granted its charter from the International Union on September 18, 1917. Our local union has a rich history, dating back to the early 20th century. We have been serving our members and contributing to the growth and development of our communities for over a century.
