Who We Are

Northern Engineering & Consulting, Inc. (NECI) is a woman and Indian-owned, multi-disciplined civil engineering firm with offices in Minnesota, Wyoming, and Montana. With over two decades of experience, NECI has established itself as a reputable and trusted partner for various municipalities, tribal governments, governmental entities, and private sector clients.

Our History

NECI was founded in 1997 by James Garrigan and Wallace Gladstone, specializing in transportation projects. Over the years, the company has expanded its services to include a wide range of engineering and consulting services. In 2004, Mike McFarlane, PE, LS, joined the team, bringing his expertise in water and sewer design. In 2008, the company opened an office in Billings, Montana, and in 2010, an office in Walker, Minnesota. In 2012, NECI acquired Milk River Engineering Inc. and opened an office in Havre, Montana. In 2017, the company underwent a transformation with the retirement of James Garrigan and the addition of new owners, making NECI 58% Indian-owned and woman-owned.

• Land Boundary Surveys/CFedS Certified: Our surveyors have over 50 years of combined experience, ensuring accurate and precise surveys.
