Elliot Thayer, President & Partner, has been a professional engineer since 1982 and a professional land surveyor since 1973. He has extensive experience in all aspects of civil engineering, land surveying, and planning, and has completed numerous projects across the state of Maine.

Andrew (Andy) Dunbar, Partner, joined Thayer Engineering Company in 1984 and has been an integral part of our team ever since. Andy provides professional services to title companies, legal entities, and lending institutions, and works closely with developers and private owners to meet their surveying needs.

Our History

Thayer Engineering Company, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Elliot Thayer, who received his professional engineer's license that same year. Over the next two years, he brought in two partners, Andy Dunbar and Bob Clunie, along with other employees. In 1984, Elliot bought the building that Thayer Engineering Company now calls home.

In 2006, Elliot Thayer and Thayer Engineering Company received the President's Award from the Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce, a testament to their value to the community. In 2012, Bob Clunie retired, leaving Elliot and Andy to continue the legacy of excellence that Thayer Engineering Company has built over the years.

Today, Thayer Engineering Company, Inc. is a thriving business with six employees dedicated to providing top-notch civil engineering, land surveying, and planning services to our clients across the state of Maine. We are proud of our history and look forward to continuing to serve our clients for many years to come.
