At Sims Group Consulting Engineers, PC, we have been serving Asheville since 1992. Founded by B. Augustus "Gus" Sims, PE, our company has grown to become a trusted and well-known name in the Asheville construction industry. Over the years, we have expanded our services to include plumbing, HVAC, power, and lighting design, providing innovative solutions to our clients.

Our History

Founded in 1992, Sims Group Consulting Engineers, PC, started with a small space in the 70 Woodfin building. As the business grew, we moved to our long-term home on Short Coxe Avenue. We take pride in having contributed to the revitalization and growth of downtown Asheville, creating a lasting impact on the community. Our portfolio of plumbing, HVAC, power, and lighting designs is extensive, including numerous large projects not only in Asheville but also around Western North Carolina and surrounding states.

Our Team

At Sims Group, we have a dedicated team of professionals, including our current principal, Derek Stewart, MBA, PE. With a strong background in engineering and project management, Derek brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the company. Under the mentorship of renowned engineer Ray Morgan, PE, Derek learned the business from the ground up, working his way up to become a Professional Engineer himself. His passion for engineering and business has been a driving force behind Sims Group's continued success.
